A biodiversity escapade experience

Of course, biodiversity matters as it is the supporting factor for the existence of all sorts of life on our planet earth. Human acknowledgement to environment is mostly reckless and we are least concerned on the matter of conservation. Our priorities and sense of responsibilities are upside down , which seriously influences survival of life on earth. Opening eyes to watch around to explore and leading a life in tempo with nature has the potential to bring changes.

Our ignorance leads to actions that might induce negative impacts on nature. It is disturbing to observe, how we are careless and are least interested to protect our beautiful mother nature. Most of us are not even interested to have a closer look at the beauty of the nature, at least with an exploration mindset. So many things are happening around us in nature, though we take them for granted. We are mostly driven by senses that experiences the environment at the macro level - means unless we see, smell, sense, hear or taste during our busy life, we are not mindful about it.

During last few years, I have thought about it and regretted myself. And I happened to have a short journey with my friend and a butterfly photographer Firos. A. K, whom I wanted to talk to, for a long time; which opened up more opportunities for exploration for me.

Everything started when we first examined the curry leaf plant in our balcony that night (24th Oct 2017) in torch light, to our wonder we identified few eggs and caterpillars of Common Mormon butterfly on the plant.  There on, I decided to watch, explore and record observations around me. I was surprised to see the variety and diversity of life around the places I live and go. Later Firos connected me to Bangalore Butterfly Club (BBC) too, through which I got chance to participate in few nature walks and surveys (Thanks to him for the review of IDs of the images)

NB: Photos shot from Brigade Metropolis (Mahadevapura, Bangalore), JP Nagar Reserve Forest Bangalore, Hessarghatta (Bangalore), Shenduruni and  Munnar.

There are millions of creatures on this earth and each one is sophisticated in it's creation. Each of them have very special behaviour and habitat too. Very few images I shared here, are just a representation and desire to inculcate the conservation mindset in the community. In India too, in recent years, there are a lot of ecology related courses offered by various institutes, community scientists, amateur ecologists etc who are exploring, researching, documenting etc on various aspects of biodiversity.

Conservation of biodiversity is a major factor for the existence of life on this earth, and so let's do whatever we can do from our side. More importantly cultivate the habit of conservation with in our young generation, which we can easily start through observing nature along with kids. And anyone can do this, as there are lots of resources available online and there are many community help groups too on this matter.
